How long is a lesson?
Both private and group lessons are normally around 45 minutes. We also offer extended lessons and intensive programs for those preparing for a special occasion.
When can I start?
You can start right now, so why wait? Book your first lesson with one of our fabulous instructors and let us show you the joys of learning to dance with Blacktie Ballroom. Our studio is open until 10pm weekday evenings and by appointment Saturdays so we are able to accommodate almost any schedule.
How many people are in your group lessons?
Our group classes are typically for 4–8 people. Our teachers are expert at putting groups together and ensuring that everyone receives the attention they need. They ensure that each group class lesson is intimate and engaging.
How much do lessons cost?
At Blacktie Ballroom we offer a range of programs and packages to suit your individual needs. In designing a tailored program for you we consider the number and type of dances that you would like to learn, the frequency with which you would like to visit, your prior dancing experience and the level to which you would like to achieve. We also offer regular free group classes and social events, over and above your private lessons. What dance styles and steps do you teach?
Blacktie Ballroom offers instruction in all the most popular styles of Latin and Ballroom dancing, including Salsa, Cha Cha, Tango, Argentine Tango, Merengue, Fox Trot, Rumba, Swing, Waltz, Lindy Hop and much more.
Will it take long to learn?
We will have you dancing within the first ten minutes of your very first lesson. How fast you progress and how proficient you become will be determined by your interests, ability and dedication but everyone can dance with Blacktie Ballroom.
Is dancing easy to learn? Do I need prior skills?
For beginners, we start you off with some basic steps to some of the easier dances and expand your repertoire at a speed that is tailored to you individually. For those with prior dancing experience, our trained instructors will assess your skills and interests to develop a tailored program to take your dancing to the next level.
Do I need to come with a partner?
No, you don't need to. We offer both couples and singles lessons at Blacktie Ballroom. If you come alone your dance instructor will act as your dance partner. Over time you will get to know other students at our studio and group classes. At our social events you will also have the chance to dance with a variety of partners of similar ability.
Can I learn to dance?
